The never ending Windows 8 logo sequel has come to an end (thank you to Otto Gierling for the #NeverEndingWindowsSequel hashtag on twitter :)). After receiving 700 entries for our Windows 8 logo contest, we received some amusing ones which we couldn’t let go unnoticed. We decided to hold an additional contest and award a $150 prize for the one that generated the most buzz. Below are the two runner ups followed by the winner.
In 3rd place, “Windows 8 Literally” by Jay Machalani
In 2nd place, “Monroe Windows 8” by Kurniawana
1st place, “Close the Windows 8 Curtains” by Russell Thorn
The winner of the most amusing Windows 8 logo is Russell Thorn for his design of the Windows 8 logo with some added curtains. His entry received the most tweets out of the 12 designs eligible in the contest. Russell is a web designer in London for Aardvark Media Ltd. After asking him what his inspiration for the logo was, he had the following to say:
“My inspiration for the design was that the current logo looks more like actual window than ever before. So I thought I’d smarten them up a little. Also, I’m hoping that Windows 8 will be so easy to use that even my grandmother will be able to use it (hence the choice of curtains). I was also inspired by my good friend Scott Beaman.”
Congratulations Russell and thank you to everyone else who participated!
